Default PT Files from PC to MAC/viceversa?

Hello,
I searched the DUC but having hard time finding an answer. Wondering if pt sessions/files are interchangeable from PC to MAC (and vice versa).

So if I record a session on my PC on an external hard drive ... then plug the harddrive into a MAC (with a PT setup), is it seamless?
I don't know a lot about MAC and its compatibility in general to PC files, but we are looking at getting an iMac as second computer.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

T

they are but it's best to use .wav files and check the Mac-PC Compatibility button

now the rub: OSX can not directly mount a NTFS drive with out software from Paragon

Hi Craig,
Thanks for the reply! Ok, so getting Paragon appears to be simple enough and not too expensive, so that is good. It suggests that makes it seamless when you attach an NTFS drive, it just takes care of it in background. So that's sounds easy enough.
However, your first point, I don't really understand: what do you mean its best to use wav files? I think each recorded track I do is a wav file ... all linked to the overall protools session (.pts i think?). Is that what you mean?

And I'm not sure what you mean by checking a Mac/PC compatibility button. Where is that button?

thanks again for replying!

yes audio files .wav, .aif is OK but .sd2 is the complete no-no
if you do a Save As or Save Session Copy In you will see the button but I think it's in Session Setup when you start a new session
