Your IT guys aren't using ROAMING PROFILES are they? If they are, that could be a huge reason for your issue. I'd also try and edit your batch file, or go to My Computer, and disconnect all network drives BEFORE opening PT to see if that's the reason for the hangup.

You can also have the IT guys manually edit your local policies to be different that everyone elses.
