Changing Grid Resolution on a Mac Laptop ?
Hey everybody,
Is there still really no way to change grid resolution (from 1/4 to 1/16th etc) in grid mode on a laptop (since they don't have numeric keypads) ? The shortcut is Ctrl-Option-+/- but the last two can't be accessed without numeric keypad (even when checking / unchecking to preferences - > USE F1, F2 keys as standard...) Thanks.

Re: Changing Grid Resolution on a Mac Laptop ?
You have to purchase the Belkin Numeric keypad add-on for mac if you want to change the settings. You can order it through Avid's website.
Ha, playin. Click the small down arrow beside "grid" on the top right of the edit window beside the transport controls. Or right click it possibly. I haven't used that way in awhile, I actually forget.

You could program Keyboard Maestro to substitute some other keystroke for it (though you'll probably need an external keypad connected initially to get the keystrokes into KM). You could also probably make this happen with one of the iPad macro controllers. But really, if you're doing any serious work on Pro Tools I think you need a keyboard with numeric keypad or an add-on keypad.

Sorry I should've specified I'm looking for a keyboard shortcut.
This is ridiculous, it's 2015. I do very serious work on Pro Tools, I just prefer working on a laptop over an iMac. Why aren't we allowed to create our own shortcuts? It makes me want to switch to Logic. Unbelievable.

Yeah, I find it likewise amazing there's no track rename dialogue shortcut. Can literally create and customize any number of tracks with shortcuts, but can't open up the window to name them.
That and playlist navigation. Not being able to cycle through them easily is a huge pain when you record to the latter part of already existing playlist lanes.

I just do it with the mouse, but if I spent lots of time on a laptop, I would add one of those USB numeric keypads
