Re: Session Management
i'm doing my first project at 24 bit 96khz....i knew it was gonna be big,in terms of file size,but.......man.
anyway,i wondered what drives people are using to deal with this increase in data.i have two 36 gig scsi drives, that i work from and to,and a firewire drive that i back up to...the scsi drives are filling up fast and it's a real drag to have to keep shuffling stuff around to make space..... is the firewire drive stable enough to track to? it's big enough but i'm not sure if it's totally safe to run to it.it's a LaCie d2 120 gig.7200rpm. any quick replies would be great.session starts at noon!! cheers matthew www.allairestudios.com

Re: Session Management
I'd gladly consult in exchange for airfare and lodging,
Seriously you should thank God every day that you are at a beautiful facility in such a beautiful part of the U.S. About your question. What's the projected track count ? My firewire begins to choke recording about 28 tracks 24/96 on a Western Digital 160 gig, 8mb buffer. If this is a critical session you might order a couple of 73 gig cheetahs from glyph. They can drop ship from Ithaca and you'll probably see them tomorrow. -russell, OPA/V |
