Default Canned Laughter

Hey all,

Was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a free or cheap studio laughter track. Some audience applause is needed to. Just for a little corporate film i'm mixing. They've suddenly decided they want this and it's one thing I haven't got! Many thanks.

I'm a big fan of single sfx-purchasing at Sounddogs.com and Sonomic.com.

Soundminer and Sonomic work together very well. So well, in fact, that I've shopped for sounds online without the client knowing. Check it out.

Beware that what they are used to hearing is a mix of a few live people in addition to the canned reactions.

I've often marveled at laughtracks in sitcoms. Really well done shows you don't even notice them, but without them I think the show would be death.

Starting with I Love Lucy (where I swear you can hear Desi in the laughtrack) through to Seinfeld. There must be a couple of people who specialize in creating them.

There are specialists along with professional live laughers. Don't miss the opportunity to watch a taping.

I have had to do this - it helps to add some faux PA slap back/spill from your sync mix which you need to increase slightly when you add laughter - simulating the Sound Supervisor milking the audience fader - if you are after "the sitcom sound".

..... oh happy days at BBC Television Centre working on sitcoms - those Fawlty Towers Xmas specials (Peckham Spring anyone?)

cheers

Sigh........I have all the Thames TV Teddington Studios audience reaction effects in my hand but they are on an AudioFile Exabyte and getting a system that will read them these days is a real problem. I tried doing an export for pro tools a few years ago but all I got was system crashes!
