Video Out Not Working

Hello Everyone:

I'm revising a project I did a year or so ago, and I'm having problems with the video convertor box I used earlier.
I open my PT session, plug a FW400 cable from the front (it's a G5) to the device (a DAC-100, it's worked fine before). Composite video out of the DAC to external SD monitor. The monitor is getting a signal from the device (color bars in test mode).

When I go to Options>Video Out Firewire, I get a dialog "Pro Tools could not find a video device connected via Firewire. Check the connection to make sure it's powered on."

I've swapped out Firewire cables & power cycled both the box and computer--no luck. I wonder if I have a bad FW port on the computer?
If anyone has a solution, I would appreciate it.

could be a bad port, do you have a drive you can try on the port?
any updates to your system scene the last time you used it? I seem to remember a QuickTime upgrade that killed video out FW
