Default No MIDI Input from Nektar Panorama T4

Hi,
I can't get my Nektar Panorama T4 working with PT 2018.10 Ultimate on Mac OS Sierra.
The controller keyboard is connected via USB and works excellent with Logic Pro X. It's recognized in Audio MIDI Setup and passes the MIDI Input test in this application.
In Pro Tools I checked the MIDI input devices, input filters etc. but didn't find any clue.
As the Mac gets MIDI but Pro Tools doesn't I expect it to be a Pro Tools problem.
Did someone else run into a similar problem?

Any help appreciated.

Best

Mark

What exactly isn't the Nektar doing that you want it to? Entering MIDI notes? Controlling things in PT? For the latter you're going to have a problem because according to the product page it's only au and vst compatible with no mention of it working in PT. This would explain why it's not working in PT.

Also make sure the Nektar and whatever vi you're using in PT are on the same MIDI channel.

Thanks for your answer. I‘m expecting simple MIDI input only. The MIDI channels match.

IOW just MIDI notes and pitch bend and mod wheel stuff right? You're not using any of the controls on the Nektar to tweak things in PT right?

These next couple of questions might seem stupid and pedantic to ask but you're using an instrument track to host the vi as well as record MIDI right? Do you have 'use first selected track' selected in PT prefs MIDI section?

Thanks Jack,
your last hint did the trick. I thought I didn't need a "default thru instrument" if I press the record enable button of the instrument track.
MIDI operation in Pro Tools is sometimes funny to me. I'm so used to do MIDI in Logic and Audio in Pro Tools...

Thanks again and best regards

Mark

Glad it worked for you. Having to press record enable on a track just to play/audition sounds of a vi is backwards. This is one of those things that could be better explained in the manual. Like maybe have a troubleshooting section or a FAQ like you see in some hardware manuals.
