Default audio plugins for Pro Tools LE 7.4

I'm recording voice tracks (me talking re relaxation and sports) with an MBox 2 mini and Pro Tools LE 7.4. I want to insert a simple synth backing track (a drone) but don't have instrument plugins. Do I need to upgrade to to LE 8.0 to get a simple synth add-on, or can I download one. What would be the most cost-effective option.
Many thanks
Vic

You can download the original version of Digidesign Xpand, which is free. It looks like you can get it from here (this is a legit store):

Thanks again. I've downloaded Xpand onto my hard drive...but I'm not sure how to get it into Pro Tools as a plugin. Any advice?
Cheers
Vic

You have to install it, and it should show then in your plugin list in instruments.
