Default Differences between pro tools.

Hi, first let me tell you that english is not my first language, so you could expect grammar horrors. Sory for that.

I want to purchase pro tools, but i cant figure what version do i need. Im good with pro tools first, but need to add some 3rd party pluggins such as guitar rig, addictive drums and so.

Do i need Pro Tools HD for that or with Pro Tools non-HD is enogh?

Thanks in advance!

Sory, is that only to clarify the name or an answer to the question?
Or both?

Thanks!

Indeed^^^ Unless you NEED surround, non-HD should serve you well

Welcome to the community.

See the comparison chart, and note that as stated in the System Requirements... "Pro Tools First only Supports in-app Avid Marketplace purchased AAX plug-ins"
So a Perpetual or Subscription license for Pro Tools would be best if you need to add other 3rd party plugins.

Thank you all for the replys.

I saw the comparison chart but never fully understand the "AAX Native/AAX DSP" difference.

AAX Native plugins work with Pro Tools HDN (HD Native) and Non HD versions.

AAX DSP works with HDX versions only.

Basically, Native means your using power readily contained in computer and HDX is an extra card/s (Avid), installed for more processing. I doubt you need to know much more about HDX judging by your questions.

AAX Native = This is software-only. The plug-ins and effects are processed directly by your computer. This is the way most other DAWs work.

AAX DSP (HD) = This means that you have specialized Pro Tools hardware that does the processing for you and is generally more expensive.
