RAM LIMITS/ Plug-In Chart??
So after PT crashing due with a Memory Error about 10 times in one night I started doing some research. I now know that PT can only use 2G of ram irreguardless of how much you have. Does anyone have a chart with appox how much ram some of the more popular intruaments and plug-ins use.
For Ex: Pro-Tools New Project. 800,000 bites Mini Grand - 400,000 bites Kontact Player with Full Kit Loaded - 250,000 bites These are 3 that I have noticed so far. As you see your already at 1.5G and haven't hit a note yet... Geeez... Is there anything that I can do to save more memory resources???

Re: RAM LIMITS/ Plug-In Chart??
First, if your system permits, you can run the /3GB switch in your boot.ini file . This will give you about 2.7GB of accessible RAM in PT8.]
What OS are you running?

Re: RAM LIMITS/ Plug-In Chart??
I recommend going to Win7-64, and adding at least another 2GB more of RAM (more won't really help a lot). Under Win7-64, PT8 can run 4GB executables, and Win7-64 also "gives back" the RAM that is normally mapped to your video and other PCI cards.

Re: RAM LIMITS/ Plug-In Chart??
Well that is GREAT to hear. Maybe with Double the RAM capacity it will crash half as often! Its not so bad now that I know what to look for but still very aggravating!!! Thank you for the info!!!
