I recommend not fiddling with adat/spdif settings, that's where I get BSOD.

Hi everyone,

Loaded up 10.3.6 and then 11. 002 was working with old driver with 10 but was getting "002 personality error in 11.

Update to Avid 002/3 driver 9.0.5. Same error in 11 and now getting "could not translate track.... error in 10.

A complete mess. I may have to uninstall all and roll back to 10.3.earlier with an earlier Digi 003 driver. A very unproductive day.

To my Mac brothers that are having success ... Congrats. To my soldiers in Windows trying to keep on... I feel you..

To my baker friends at Avid... Disappointed... Seriously

Now THAT'S what we (the 002 'faithful') have been waitin' for !
Not asking for 'support', just another option.
So, abit of detail would be great, such as Mac or Windows ? Versions ?

It's just that I hate to waste a perfectly functional piece of hardware, even if I am upgrading to a newer interface. It's nice to have backup/field/'beater' interface for whatever.

I also confirm that PT 10.3.9 and PT 11.3 will work with Digi 002 Rack.
I'm testing it now for a couple of days and still working fine!!
I had big problems on Yosemite and Mountain Lion, but when i installed with these steps it was running fine with even 64 samples on de demo sessions:

- digi 002r powered off
- format internal drive (Extended Journaled)
- boot from OSX 10.8.5 installation USB stick
- install OSX 10.8.5 on internal drive
- download Avid 003 driver 11.1.3 (http://akmedia.digidesign.com/suppor...83630.dmg?ns=1)
- power down Mac
- power up 002r
- power up Mac
(check Audio Midi Setup.app to see Avid 002 rack Core Audio driver)
- install Pro Tools 10.3.9 (restart after installation)
- install Avid_Virtual_Instruments_10_3_Installer_77520.dmg (sounds/content on internal drive as suggested by installer)
- install Unitor Driver 2.5 (for my Emagc AMT 8 midi interface)
(check Audio Midi Setup.app again, to see that Pro Tools 10.3.9 also installed a Core Audio driver for 002r “Digidesign HW (002)”
- run Pro Tools 10.3.9
- choose Avid 002 Rack as output device in Playback engine (not the Aggregate IO!!)
- check Pro Tools 10 demo session
- close Pro Tools 10.3.9
- install Pro Tools 11.3 (no restart needed)
- install AIR Creative Collection 11.1 (sounds/content on internal drive as suggested by installer)
- start Pro Tools 11.3 (it installs PACE (iLok) drivers
- choose Avid 002 Rack as output device in Playback engine (not the Aggregate IO!!)
- load Pro Tools 11 demo session (first start causes error, after that it runs fine, even a buffer size of 64 on my iMac i5 2.7Ghz / 16 Gb

Works fine for me. Both Pro Tools 10 and 11 with the Digi 002 Rack

My 002 was working except the hardware menu would not appear. I could not change sample rates or clock source. (Setup > Hardware)

Does yours work?

I have just installed PT11 on a new model iMac running Yosemite 10.10.2. Running the digi002 with only a few issues. As Park mentions, I cannot access the hardware menu either, and have had a few crashes, for unknown reasons. The CPU usage looks fine mostly and am hoping the crashes are the exception as opposed to the norm. Wondering mostly if anyone has had the same issue Park and I have.

Thanks!

Like many, I'm sure, I've got an 002 console in nearly pristine condition. Haven't used it in a while and don't intend to. I've graduated to an Mbox 3 Pro.

But I've been watching in wonder as these things occasionally sell on ebay. Who's buying these and what are they using them for?

Just to report, my HP zBook 15 is work flawlessly with PT11 and my Digi002r. It's been almost daily use since January 2015. I use a cheap Startech Firewire 800 Expresscard with a cheap 400 to 800 firewire cable to connect the digi 002r.

I did have a scare about the playback engine settings not changing, but once I set the default audio on the computer back to the internal speakers, etc from the digi hardware, all has worked well. I also use Ableton Live with my PT hardware (mbox2mini and digi002r) with no trouble at all.

I have had less good experiences with video software (Sony Vegas Pro and Premiere Pro)... was hoping to use the mbox, but things don't seem to work well there.

I might be able to add a little hope to Windows users here. Long time 002 Rack user, no problems with it working in any version of PT11 (that's long been established). I just bought a pristine 002 console for $200 off eBay. I can confirm after trying everything, no matter what you do, the faders and console part of of the 002 Console is NOT going to respond in PT11 or PT12. I think that's been well established as well.

But if I'm like most PT11 users, I still work in PT10 a lot, because of favorite plugins still not being in 64 bit aax, and/or because PT10 has just been very stable and fast for me. One interesting thing I didn't count on when buying the 002 Console, which I really only bought because it was so inexpensive and I wanted a 2nd interface to use with my laptop for mobile sessions, is how nicely the 002 Console integrates with my Behringer BCF2000 when I'm in PT10. The Console controls faders 1-8, and the BCF controls 9-16. It's cool having 16 faders when mixing, and they tab/toggle easily to tracks 17-24, etc.

Note that the only driver I was able to get the Console to work in was 9.0.5. The console works fine in PT11 and 12 as just the interface; the faders don't work, but the interface does just fine.

It's a shame that the console part of it won't work in 11 or 12. I guess it was never ported to 64 bit. But for those of you still using 10, picking one up for a couple of hundred dollars is an irresistible upgrade to an 002 Rack or any other interface in that price range.

On a separate note...the only way I can get the ADAT inputs to work in PT11 or 12 from the ADA8000 is to use the ASIO driver. So, when I'm tracking drums while working with Mr. Pollard I am tracking in PT10. If anyone has any idea how to get the ADAT in to work in PT11 from the ADA8000 while using the digi 9.0.5 driver, please let me know. I would like to be able to track in 64bit PT11 and mix in PT10.

All of this, of course, until I can afford an Apollo or something like that. I'm a hybrid digital/analog studio and I'm not in a big hurry to spend a lot of money upgrading Pro Tools related stuff. Although, thinking this through...I often come back to the old, "if it's working, why worry?". Honestly, I'm using a 7 year old quad core PC with 8 gig of ram, and PT10 has never failed me in tracking live with up to 20 inputs, and mixing is always very stable. I don't use a ton of plugins or virtual instruments at one time, but I certainly have done some sessions where there are a couple of orchestra sounds, a Mellotron or two, a few compressors and EQs here and there...and never come close to running out of juice in PT10. Maybe I should just lock it in and forget about it haha. I mainly use Pro Tools as a stable tape machine. PT10 has been very stable...I just like the idea of it possibly being even more stable in 64bit land and use all of that whopping 8 gig of ram.

I dunno...
