Default Suspend All Groups paranoia

After completing a long and mission-critical re-record, I looked down and noticed that I was in "suspend all groups" (cmd-shift-g) mode. Everything sounded fine, but afterwards I was paranoid that maybe it wasn't an accurate playback.

Is there any reason a PT session would sound different in suspend? The VCAs keep working, all tracks keep reading automation... right?

As long as you don't group tracks and their inserts and/or sends... but that only effects recording automation. Playback is fine. And it makes a difference with edit groups but I think you would have recognized that :)

Playback will always be fine in suspend (since it really only affects while writing groups)

And, of course, VCA groups ignore group suspend.

So if you use groups only for VCA, it will always be fine. If you are editing/writing automation, it only needs to be on while actually editing/writing automation.

Thanks BScout. It all sounded fine, and the mix moves I had to make weren't dependent on an active group. Paranoia averted!
