I am new and I need ALOT of help
I'll try to be precise:
- what plug ins should I look for if I have a MIDI controller and I want to play them in a Pro Tools Session? - I have Pro Tools 6.2.2 , does this mean that I can never have 6.4? please dont laugh, and please respond! |

Re: I am new and I need ALOT of help
Hello cenzi6, welcome. The first thing you should do is ALOT of reading of your Pro Tools Reference Guide. Turn your system on, get some sound in there, and just start going through the basics with the handy dandy Guide by your side. About 90% of the questions you'll have will be answered this way. The other 10% can be answered by looking on Digidesign's web site under "support", which you have. Good start. You can always upgrade to the lastest and greatest thing. It just costs money, that's all.
And P.S., Always list your system confguration and what OS and version of Pro Tools you're running. It makes it much easier for someone to help you.

Re: I am new and I need ALOT of help
Pro Tools LE uses RTAS and AudioSuite plug-ins, and can also use VST plug-ins with an optional purchase of the FXpansion VST/RTAS converter. Check your DigiRack Plug-Ins Guide in your Digidesign/Documentation folder. Those plug-ins are used on audio tracks, not MIDI tracks. You would need to record the output of your MIDI sound module to audio tracks, then you could use plug-ins on the audio.
Pro Tools LE 6.4 is a free update from 6.2.2. In addition to your manuals, click on the Education link above, and you will find lots of free tutorials and other resources, particularly in the first section there.
