Default how good is the 002r?

hello there,

just how good are the A/D converters on the 002r?
the reason i ask is that there is a new emu card (1212m) that uses the same converters as
a pro-tools HD set up. this card is about £130.

dont get me wrong my 002 sounds good to me but just wondered and buying the 002 emptied my bank account!

cheers

There are better converters (apogee, etc)

But they are decent IMHO and totally workable.

There are better converters out there, but if you can't make a high quality recording with the 002R the problem is not because of the converters. Put your money into nice microphones.

I saw this advertised - is this really true? HD quality AD for such a low price? Is there a catch (other than you can't use protools)?

it doesn't specify how the converters are the same. same spec, same chip, exactly the same?

many different devices may well use the same AD and/or DA device but it is more than likely implemented differently in each instance too. think clock, filtering method, analogue electronics, etc., etc.

I recently sold my 002r and bought a M-aud 410 to use with cubase and PTpowered. The difference imo is neglible.. I would op for better pre's and mics. If you run a million dollar studio then it makes sense to pick up those .03 percent differences in the whole audio production linkage.
