Just did some image searches.

I think if you had an M10 and put the LCD arm on the other side of the touch module, you'd have the best of both worlds it seems.

Having said that, I really think Neve nailed it with their Genesys Black.

I think Avid should do their version of this with Cranesong handling the analog pathways. Imagine an S6 but with Cranesong frontend, processing, and summing.

I pitched this to Dave Hill at AES and he seemed into it.
Don't quite like the genesys ergonomic. The keyboard arm rest section puts you rather far from the fader when you are in the middle, which in turns places you quite far from the top encoders.

I finally got to place my hands on a s6 m40 today, I really dig it, although I think they could have waited just a tad to release it with the majors tools that the icon gave, like the expanded plugins, the vca spills, the layouts and the custom faders. But already it does offer some nice things. Now if they would actually allow us to instantiate the plugins from the touch screen in the future this would be good. They could do it (and I proposed it to the Robert, who said he would pass it along) selct your track, press the plugin key, then on the touch screen you would be able to select tdm or native, and then you could have all the plugins appear on the touch screen, with an icon representing what type of plugin it is (ie eq, dynamics, reverb, etc) This way you would only have to do 3 operations to have it set up. Faster than with the mouse even. That and if in the future they integrate the installed plugins on the Ilok, or allow for the avid market place to verify your ilok license, what plugin you are using in the session and what's installed on the system, and then automatically enable the plugins that the system is missing but you are using in the session, this would make quite a unique and very versatile system.

So after all the measurements, putting the stand at 26" under-table height, putting (2560x1080) 29"x12.5" screens above the m40 screens, the top of the screen just reaches 51".

All pretty tight, but do-able. It would be so much easier if people had eyes in the back of their head so speakers and screens don't have the share the same space :)

Since there wasn't anybody doing this dual-screen thing yet with the S6, after yesterday's measurement, I just mocked it up to see how it'd feel. I think it can work. See pic.

Something to keep in mind here; the "Meter" screens only are available on the M40 version(so M10 would not have those). In the first big screen shot, the 2 fader banks could sit in place of the 2 blank panels where the keyboard is set. Remember that each and every "block" can be located anywhere

In all this talk about screens and such does anybody know how much weight the VESA arm will support? Will it take something as heavy as say a 27 inch iMac that has the VESA adapter on it? Especially when the arm is extended a good bit sideways? Not all VESA arms can support the same amount of weight.

Currently I have 2 DELL 27" screens hanging off arms without any issues. They are made by Ergotron http://tinyurl.com/krfnhlh This one can handle screens up to 30 pounds, so virtually any recently made screen, including the 30" DELL screens. iMac is 28 pounds, so that -should- work.

I would think with PT screens down that close, doesn't that negate some of the need for those TFTs?
