Default Pro Tools M-Powered to Pro Tools 10 Crossgrade

Hey everybody. I'm looking to upgrade to Pro Tools, and I want to do the M-Powered to 10 crossgrade. I'm wary though because I currently have the M-Powered version 8 not version 9 and I haven't been able to find anything specifying which mp version is accepted in the crossgrade. Does anyone have any info that might shed some light on the situation for me?

You can upgrade from any version of M-Powered. The cost is $499.

As an alternative to crossgrading, you might also consider getting a new Avid interface that comes bundled with PT10, such as the Eleven Rack or the Mbox 3 Pro.

Looks like they just changed it. Either that or I read it wrong in the first place. But yeah, it's $399.

Hi all,

I am about to purchase the same crossgrade.

I was using Protools M-Powered 8 on an old Macbook.

Last weekend, the Macbook died so i bought a new one yesterday.

My question is this:

Will i be able to crossgrade on the new Macbook? There is currently no version of Pro Tools installed. I am hoping that the crossgrade will be successful as long as i have the dongle i used with M-Powered 8 inserted in the new laptop's USB port.

Could someone advise?

The crossgrade is a full installer, so you don't need to have a previous version of Protools installed. You'll be able to just download and install Protools 10. And a license will be sent to your Ilok account, where you can download it to your Ilok (which will surrender the M-Powered license).

Hello. I'm contemplating doing this same crossgrade because I recently bought a new Imac running Lion and M-powered 8 won't run on it. One question I have though, is I'm currently running M-powered on a slightly older laptop and want to continue doing so. Will I be able to keep running M-powered on my laptop using my old Ilok if I buy a new Ilok and have the license for 10 put on there? Thanks for any help.

Not if you do the crossgrade. It will make you surrender the M-Powered license.

Darn. Thanks for the info. Looks like I'm kind of screwed on this one then and I have to purchase the full version of 10. Ugh.
