Re: publishing mp3 on the web - how?
shucks, I went to mp3.com and it seems they need me to make a cd, then upload the material and let them convert it into mp3s. I already saved the file as an mp3. is there any easy way to post it in this or any other format on the web so others can hear it? i'm new to all this sorry! i appreciate your help!

hmm, interesting. I guess they've changed things from when I used to use them. I can't imagine that they'd want you to upload a non-compressed file, it would just be too huge.
Actually, I just went and checked it out - did you go to the new artist sign-up? http://www.mp3.com/newartist/. It says there that you just upload MP3 files. |

Not sure how many MB of total download access you are allowed, but you can make 20 MB available for free with up to 1 GB paid using iTools:
http://itools.mac.com/1/iTour/tour_idisk.html Drag and drop to folders on your iDisk from any computer. Public folders and files are accessible to users on any platform. (you can also just do a "Get Info" on a folder on the iDisk mounted on your local hard drive and change file sharing permissions)

publishing mp3 on the web - how?
I'd like to create a simple site and post my work on the web as mp3s. Any advice on how to do this? I've never made a website or posted a song on the web.

Re: publishing mp3 on the web - how?
You may want to check out the free service at MP3.com - it's pretty self explanatory over there. They'll basically create a page for you, and show you how to upload graphics and songs. If you want to try and create your own website, I'd recommend picking up a 'teach yourself HTML' type of book - the ones publised by samsnet are pretty good.

Re: publishing mp3 on the web - how?
That's good advice, it's not easy to start from scratch esp. if you have to code HTML
Although most ISP accounts these days give you "free" web pages, the web size limit in Mb usually means you've used up your space with only a dozen MP3s - Sean |
