PT First assertion problem
Dear all,
I have troubles to run PT First. I have an old mbox3 that I used to use with PT Express on a mac. I recently got a new laptop with Windows 10 and before upgrading to a full version of PT, I figured it was worth trying PT First before in order to see if all is going well with my mbox3. Turns out I have assertion problems. I installed the drivers and mbox is communicating very well with the laptop, I've got sound and all. After getting activated, PT First is lauching quick and easy. But when I try to create a new session, this is what happens : When the windows "processing I/O audio" appears I get a first error message that says "your hardware device has changed, some inputs are missing". And then a second error message which is the following : "Could not save as "0000" because Assertion in "E:\ Code\ 222437\ ProTools\ App\ Document\ UProjectBundleMgr.cpp", line 1693." I tried all the windows 10 optimizations and troubleshooting I could find online, with no result. Please, is anybody have any lead ?? Thank you in advance... Jérémy |

Re: PT First assertion problem
Hello and welcome to the forum.
Firstly, do not let Windows use your MBox for any of its sounds. You can change this by opening Playback Devices, right clicking on the MBox and selecting Properties. In the properties dialog, look at Device usage and make sure you set it to 'do not use this device'. Do this for all MBox entries in both playback and record devices. After you have done this, reboot your system. Now launch PTF and hold the N key down while it is loading. If all goes well, you should be prompted with the Playback Engine dialog, where you can choose your audio interface. Also, make sure you are using the latest driver for your MBox. |

Re: PT First assertion problem
Thank you for trying to help me.
I guess I do have the latest driver as I took the last available one on avid website. I disabled everthing I could on control panel - sound - playback / recording. Plus Mbox is selected in PT playback engine settings. Still exactly the same error message right after -processing I/O-... see attached. Thank you |

Re: PT First assertion problem
Mbox should be "Enabled" but not "Default" in your Sound control panel, not "Disabled". There should be an audio device in your Sound control panel that is the base windows output, usually "Realtek Audio". Set this to "Default"
