Unhappy Upgrade from Pro tools 8 to 9 trouble

I purchased the upgrade from protools 8 to 9 because I was having so many problems with Windows 7. I can't download the pro tools 9. It appears to download after 1hour 20 minutes, but when I attempt to open it I get an error message stating application not found. Any ideas?
Windows 7, HP pavilion Elite, 4 processor 800 gig. M audio profire 610
Thanks

Angry Re: Upgrade from Pro tools 8 to 9 trouble

I am using firefox. I think I have the solution. Avid removed my pro tools 8 license and activated my pro tools 9 so now the installer can't find pro tools 8 and when I try to open 8, I get a request for a license number that is no longer on my iLok. AND!!!!! Avid customer support doesn't return until Monday 9 am PST. Do you think that this is the issue -- when I get the message "can't find application"?

I don't think they should have taken your pro tools 8 authorization. You payed for it and should legally still be able to use it. Either way, I don't think the iLok authorization has anything to do with the install process. You don't even need the iLok connected to run the installer. In fact, you don't even need Pro Tools 8 installed (actually not supposed to have it installed while installing 9). Try downloading the newest version of winrar or winzip from download.com.

Same thing happens with different browsers. When I try to open the installer folder which appears to have downloaded completely, I get the message. :folder is empty.

Have you tried changing the file destination before you save it? Save it to an external drive maybe.
