PT 11 and Presonus StudioLive ?

Hi

Has anyone tried PT 11 with Presonus StudioLive ? I'm currently using PT 10 with Presonus StudioLive 24:4:2 on Windows7 and its working fine, so I am wondering if upgrading PT to v11 is a good idea, and whether it will work seamlessly....

Ok I'll answer my own question then.

I jumped in and got PT11, and it works fine alongside PT10.3.6 with Presonus StudioLive 24:4:2

I am going to buy the studiolive soon and was wondering does it work as a control surface or just a mixer. I own eleven rack with pt 10 and looking for a controller either used 003 or 3rd party. thanks

my understanding is that it does NOT function as a controller for PT. There have been some threads talking about a protocol called H** (three letter acronym, sorry I forget exactly what it was called) but havent had a chance to research or try this.

PT and Studio live should play nice together. About the only thing missing is motorized faders. This was a design choice on Presonuses part that undoubtably kept the prices more affordable.

Using the StudioLive as a controller by HUI should allow fader moves in PT. But since the faders are not motorized they are not going to track any fader automation present in Pro Tools.

Given the StudioLives intended usage the lack of motorized faders is not a big deal in my opinion. In the studio mix situation not having motorized faders somewhat limits is use as a control surface.
