Some opinion please. Using 24/44.1khz equipment when mixing in 24/88.2khz
Hi:
Ok. So this may seem like a basic question. I have been mixing in 24bit/44.1khz for many years. However my studio is 96khz capable and I was considering going to 88.2khz (heard it was better for bringing everything down to 16/44.1 So first off, would it make a difference going to 88.2khz? I mainly produce dance/pop. Second, I have 2 Apogee Rosetta 800s and a DIGI 192 digital i/o running all of my equipment at 24/44.1 If I put everything at 24/88.2, would I be able to connect my Lexicon PCM91 via SPIF on the DIGI 192 and would it automatically downsample to 24/44.1? The PCM91 is only 24/44.1 Any input would be appreciated. Thanks. |

You'll probably have to down sample the 88.2 stuff for you equipment that does not accept it. I have to do that when I want to use a certain mastering plug in. I just convert it and go. I can't tell you that this is the best way to do it, but is has worked for me so far. I just make sure that I've done everything I can inside PT before I make the move. Hope this helps.
