DSP purage don't work well

The best way to finger the true culprit here is to run w/ DSP Cache OFF through the workflow series you mention and report findings.

We had months during testing from beta sites where DSP Cache was on and I am not aware of issues that resemble the descriptions in this thread.

By design, the option is greyed-out if there is no "purgable"
(ie unused) plug-ins/DSP.

When you close a session when purge greyed-out, does purge command stay greyed-out?

I got that part. I just reduced a HD 4 accel mix in half. There should be a couple cards that can open up. Also, I can close down the session and reboot tools and then the DSP is available. It's just randomly not working correctly as far as I can tell. It's not too big a deal for me to just reboot tools as I only go through this about twice a week.

Digi... please fix it ....... I was switching session to session to touch up the mix. As we mentioned above, it end up with NO sound. force to quit PT. take more coffee... SMS... then work again.... what a day... In fact, i will back to PT7.4 with Tiger when i start new mix..

As I asked previously, plese verify that turning DSP Cache OFF (via System Usage Window) resolves this issue. We ned to narrow down the guilty party here.

Yes, turning off DSP Cache resolves the issue for me, but then what's the point of having the feature if it you can't use it? We're back to where we started with version 7.xxx, where it takes 10+ minutes to open a large session.
