grid disappearing bug
Does anyone else get the bug where the grid loses its value? in this pic below you can see what happens when PT tries to snap to grid and there is no grid
It happens to me sometimes and I thought it was harmless but I just discovered it can corrupt your session. Story time. I was just troubleshooting a session where Kontakt crashed but I could still save.. so I saved under a different name of course. and then started investigating (crashing PT over and over) Basically I quickly realized 3 cpu cores stuck at 100% and I have 3 Kontakt tracks so it's Kontakt that's crashing. Can't do anything with those tracks or PT crashes. But what caused the Kontakt instances to become corrupted? Through trial and error and eventually noticing the grid problem I figured out it's the ridiculous timestamp confusing the crap out of Kontakt and crashing it. If Kontakt sees that timestamp, it kills it and if saved you'll have to reopen the session with all inserts disabled and replace all instances of Kontakt to recover. Anyway, just thought I'd share what I discovered. Only Kontakt couldn't survive. Attached is a pic including the grid setting being broken. |
