Default 001 Mac vs. PT24 NT

I am currently a S8PC user (we track in S8, mix in CakeWalk 8/Gina, ugh...)

Should I go to Mac Digi001 or ProTools|24 NT ??

Considering the S8PC upgrade option, they are both roughly the same cost to me ($4000 - $5000). My inclination is to go Digi001, as Mac is Digi's strength.

All I do is fairly simple rock band recordings, no time code, no post/video, etc.

Any thoughts on this before I empty my wallet will be greatly appreciated.

Buy the PT 24, It is a professional system. The 001 is nowhere near as good. Nothing will ever beat a TDM system.

With the right computer configuration, it's nearly as good!

I'll have a better system.

The digi 001, an apogee rosetta.
Some great mic-pre's and neumann/akg
mics.

I'll start on the digi-- finish it
on TDM, and others toys in a pro studio.
And save a few (actually more than a
few) thousand bucks.

TDM is awesome, but those little computers
and getting faster and faster and faster.
And as long as there is a $10k gap, i'm
staying right here baby!

How does the digi compare to what alot
of you TDM guys spent thousands on your
16-bit systems a few years ago. Try to
sell me, or anyone else for that matter,
one of those things compared to the 001.
No Way!!

By the way, i'll probably be looking for one
of you guys to finish up my projects down the line. I live in the SF bay area.
