preamp very weak
My mbox 2 is working perfectly fine, except for one recent problem that's come up, the preamp. At first I thought it was the mic I was using, so I swapped in an SM57, and the same thing. Even when I turn the input all the way to the right I get a weak volume, plus, an annoying buzzing sound that only goes away when I physically touch the bottom of the mic. Any ideas?

Re: preamp very weak
Did you try swapping out the cord?
If you touch it and the buzz goes away, it sounds like a grounding problem. Good luck, Dave |

Re: preamp very weak
You know, I did try different cables. I think the problem is the mbox2 got damaged somehow. I was moving things around and I knocked it with a speaker, not hard, but perhaps hard enough. Can that kind of stuff be repaired? Everything else seems completely fine.

Re: preamp very weak
Repaired?
Depends what's wrong. Is it still in warranty? I'd call Digi Monday morning or if you're handy you might open it up and see if any of the connectors got knocked loose. Don't do anything that might void the warranty (if you still have one). Good luck, Dave |
