Default ITunes Loses songs!

I don't understand why, but practically every song I bounce and master with my Peak program eventually gets "lost" in ITunes! I will have a song that is fine in ITunes for over a month, and then one day, boom, I get the message "can't find original files"(or something like that). What causes this? I'm wondering if maybe I need to buy something like Toast, but I really don't know @%$# about that type of stuff. Any answers? I've tried to get through to macintosh on the phone, but no luck. Is there a site similar to this, maybe, for macintosh help?
Thanks in advance, and I apologize if my questions are a)too basic, or b)not clear
Later,
SteveU

Hi
You may already know this, but....iTunes only keeps a reference to where the song lives.
If you move folders around or rename any of the song or iTunes elements, the reference path will be broken.

I suggest using the Finder to locate the missing songs.

hope this helps
