Confirmed, only Sierra is affected by this. Updating to High Sierra or Mojave "fixes" the issue.

Sure.

But when you have a good time to do some maintenance work (as in clean install of an operating system) creating a fresh Mojave setup is now an excellent idea. That would be the latest of 32/64bit software and you might need that system clone for many years to come, even after you have moved on with Catalina and 64-bit only.

I bet a million PT users are having their fingers crossed that Catalina support is here before summer of 2020 -- support this year might be tough, but you never know; Avid almost had Mojave support out with 2019.1 but that never realised until 2019.5

It is a long tradition of PT users having to wait for OS support longer than other DAW users. That is because Avid actually tests their software against certain (documented) computer models and because of that can support said models better. That is the price we need to pay.

See my other post, Mojave support was supposed to be out 2019.1 and I would be surprised if Catalina support comes before Christmas

That is why I am not holding my breath for 2019 compatibility. Also, that is why 2019.10 release is huge, because they made the point of having updated AVE a lot. That has been known to be 32bit and I am sure they are closer now.

Thanks for any advise
If you haven't already, try doing a google search for Mojave download. It will show you a link to the apple site https://support.apple.com/macos/mojave scroll down until you see the link "Get macOS Mojave from the App Store" which will redirect you to the app store where you should be able to download. When I got my iMac Pro it came loaded with Mojave before Pro Tools was compatible. Unfortunately, I was unable to install High Sierra. It told me my mac was already using the latest OS. You can at least try. Otherwise I would recommend using Logic Pro X in the meantime or another DAW that is compatible with Catalina, Ableton Live 10 seems to be the only other DAW other than Logic Pro X, based on Sweetwater's website.
Sucks, I know.

We would mostly be happy if we had Catalina compatibility this year

You really think there are a million PT users still after all this?

What I find a little funny is, if it takes 18 mos to "catch up" to Apple, and Apple poops out a new major version every year or so... Avid has no hope to catch up. Maybe they need more than 1 developer on PT. Poor dev.

Editorial: I truly love Pro Tools, and do not judge it based on the OS dictatorships, but the world is spinning much faster today than the last 20 years when all this archaic software was first divined, so I know it's not a thing they can fix "in a week", peeps. Give em time. And a prayer
