Default Playback and record issues

Not sure if this is the best thread but hoping someone can help me out.

I'm a relative newby to home recording but took it up during lockdown. All was working great until a few weeks ago when I was no longer able to record or playback.

Using ProTool 2020 on a Lenovo IdeaPad with Windows 10.

Essentially the Pause button flashes when I either hit "play" or try to record.

This seems to be something that others have had happen before but none of the solutions I've read about seem to be working.

Any help much appreciated.

Do you accidentally have "wait for midi note" enabled?

I'd never heard of it either but Google seemed to know. (You should try it!)

This is one of those pesky buttons that you might hit by accident and it may even toggle with the "f12" key. My usual error is hitting the "n" key when I don't mean to.

See the screen shot, but all kinds of question can be answered with a simple search thru the help files(in PT>Help menu>Pro Tools Help). This one's a freebie
