Default Importing MIDI "one note"

It was suggested that importing MIDI drum tracks as "one note" tracks... which I assume means that if there are 8 notes used to determine 8 differnet drums/cymbals (kick, snare, tom, hat open, hat closed, etc) that it would be easier to edit when importing tracks composed on other/older MIDI software.

I've searched the manual to no avail... how does one do this?

I'm working with someone who's Midi files unfortunately are not triggering the correct part of the 'kit"... or not triggering anything. Moving the notes to the correct spot is tedious, and in some cases it's just specific 'lines" that need to be moved, not everything within a region

as I normally work with living breathing drummers this is new to me (but I see a value to knowing how to work with MIDI files)

Thanks for any insight!

'Select/Split Note' to Track apply Track-Based RTP Transpose.

I apologize for seeming to be so deficient.... but WTF do you find the option to "split note"?

I select "Import -> Midi" and that doesn't seem to be an option I can find

what am I missing?

You would type 'Split Note' in the search function of the Pro Tools Reference Guide .pdf version.
