Default Fader Port

Can I use Presonis' FaderPort along side a Command 8?. In other words they communicate with one another and PT all at the time?

No, unfortunately you cannot. I tried to do the same thing with an Alphatrack, the idea being to have the Alphatrack near the midi keyboard for when I'm sequencing. I still have the Alphatrack near the music keyboard but I have to disable the Command 8 and select the Alphatrack every time I use it. Another option is to buy a little external USB numeric keypad. The numeric keypad will control the Pro Tools transport and you can use it the same time as a control surface.

Just browsing here and saw the Faderport post. Gotta give a +1 to lkingston's USB numeric keypad idea, and add a suggestion to get a wireless one. I am using Digital Performer on a home system with a Faderport, and got a Targus wireless USB Keypad (new imac keyboard did not have a numeric section.) Works great as a wireless transport controller, batteries seem to last a long time. Only drawback is the working distance between the keypad and receiver is not that great. But it was cheap and works great.

I use a Faderport along side a C24, so I don't know why it would not work with the Command8.(I use it because I need transport at my left hand).

Yeah, I can't seem to get a firm answer on this. I don't see why it wouldn't work if it is configured properly in Ethernet Controllers. I realize it is an unusual request because "why?" would you need it. I've asked on other boards and techs but can't get an answer. I just want to know before I purchase.

Be brave and give it a shot. BTW, you should be able to buy it for 100 bucks(or less) so its not a horrible risk(well, it wasn't for me). As I said, it worked perfectly for me with no special setup fiddling(other than the basic setup that it needs, regardless of what ever other controllers might be connected). Also, if you don't NEED the motorized fader, you can run with just the USB cable(wall wart is not needed for the rest of the functions).

Go ahead and try it but I'm still sure it won't work. If it does, let me know and I'll buy the Faderport to replace my Alphatrack.
