I just got a new Mac Whitebook and Protools LE 8. I successfully installed protools, however I can't seem to get past "Initizalizing Machine Control" while opening LE. I have yet to even authorize or register it; I have uninstalled and reinstalled, but it just isn't working; I've had it stuck on this for three and a half hours so far; I don't think patience is the answer! Any tips?

What exact version of Pro Tools LE 8?
What exact version of Mac OS X?

This sounds like an incompatibility with Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and a version of Pro Tools below version 8.0.3.

Particularly if you tried to install Pro Tools 7 on snow leopard. This same error was reported in this thread on the 8.0.3pr Prerelease version for snow leopard.
