keyboard shortcuts

Hi all,

I have Pro Tools 7.4 on a Mac Leopard system.

I want to be able to control all the tools (zoom, trim, grabber, etc) with the F1, F2, F3 keys on my keyboard... but when I press these keys, the brightness of the computer is affected and not the tools within Pro Tools. I went into the keyboard and mouse section of System Preferences and unchecked all the key commands, but that doesn't work. How do I modify these key commands?

Hmm, not sure which options you have unchecked...

The correct one to make sure is CHECKED is under prefs>keyboard> 'Use all F1, F2 etc. keys as standard function keys'

I'm new to using keyboard shortcuts. In the PDF manual under Help for
PT 8.0.3 which i use on a PC, many of the shortcuts give direction to use a
'Start' key. Where is this Key? Please help.

The "start key" is in the lower left side of the keyboard and is the one with a little windows symbol.
