Default Time Machine Question for PT Users..

Am I right in assuming that people using Time Machine are using it to back up their main startup drive?

I mean it would be great to have it back up your audio files, but you would have to buy a new drive every two weeks I suppose, since it is trying to keep everything...a little confused on this....

thanks
TH

I may be wrong about this but I believe you're supposed to
disable time machine. Pro Tools is not compatable...

I run Time Machine behind ProTools all day with no problems. It runs in the background and by the end if the day I'm mostly backed up.

to free up processing space, i turn off time machine, and blue tooth and wireless when i go into PTLE, but i turn on time machine after i'm done to do a back up. it works really well for backing up but it can kinda hog, especially if using a FW external drive.

i recommend not running it while in session but turn it on afterwards to back up.

I too run Time Machine while on Pro Tools with no evident problems. It leaves you with a large backlog of system saves with zero effort. I'm a fan.

I too run Time Machine while running PT8. I was just recording a few minutes ago and noticed time machine backing up my machine while I was in the middle of recording a solo. No issues ever.

same here- no problems running Time Machine all the time- I used to turn it off... which would periodically result in me forgetting to turn back on. If I'm mixing a particularly large session with lots of plug-ins I may turn it off... but anymore it just does it's thing in te background. I have a separate partion on an external drive and it holds ~ 30 days worth of back-ups and drops the oldest one off

I figure if I haven't discovered a problem in 30 days.... I either don't have, or I'm not payiong attention and deserve mental anguish
