Default Big Sur MacOS and Digi 003?

I know that Mac's Catalina platform signaled the end of anything being easy with my old DIGI 003 (specifically that DIGI was no longer supported by Apple).

But what about with the new Big Sur?

If I install this update am I going to end up without a control surface again without rolling the system back?

Hi you you shouldn't go there yet ! BS has just released and PT is not officialy supported now. It's better to wait till a verison of PT compatible is released and if any driver for it is released too.

p.s. i know you said as controller but got to point out PT too.

I would sadly say you can forget about it, here is the compatiblity info of 00x famiy drivers, last driver update being October 26th, 2016.

Long story short, last supported on Sierra and there is exactly 0.00% chance Avid is putting a second of effort updating them.

This is why you buy RME and never look back. I just replaced a failing DIGI003 Rack+ at work with my own FF800 which just got updated to support macOS 11 Big Sur as well as M1 Macs.
That's what I call unrivaled price & performance / year. Merry Christmas MC and RME! :)

I followed this video snd got my 002 rack working with Big Sur! Utility snd pref pane don’t work because they are 32 bit but drivers work! Midi and audio!

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=F0jq8CXJRBU

Worked on Catalina too after I repaired permissions and did a kextcache update following these directions! Long live the 002/3!!!

This method worked perfectly for me in Big Sur! Catalina too, after I rebuilt kextcache explained in second link. Long live the 002/3!!!

And follow this for Catalina to rebuild kextcache.

Thank you for posting the link to the video.

I followed it and I think the drivers installed correctly. When I look Audio Devices I've got Protools Audio Bridge 16/16. Does that mean they're installed correctly? However, the Digi003 still says it's offline.

I'm using a Firewire to USB into a WireTechnologies docking station. Do you think I need to have a Firewire into an Apple Firewire to USB-c adaptor?
