Default I'm sorry, but which mobo if I want to go HD w/PCI/PCIx?

I'm on "google it" overload. Can anyone point me in the direction of a solid board that would allow me to run PT9 HD for my i/o and give me enough horsepower for running RTAS plugs? Thinking of an HD Core and maybe an HD Accel (PCI/PCIx to save funds). Is there a mobo that supports the i7 quad core chip, has 2 PCI/PCIx slots, and runs stable with PT?

And while I'm asking questions that I'm sure have been answered to death... can a PCI-X card work in a standard PCI slot?
