You are 100% correct and I was not clear with my statement that in 1 year when our license expire there will probably not be any reinstatemnt licenses left if the new owner chose to let it lapse So Thank you for correcting my ealier post and thats why this is a great community! People care .. and correct posts that are unclear Or Wrong as my link was.

Support and update plan is *not* a subscription, although you need to buy it in advance

No, it's not. I was saying that a "Subscription" to Ultimate is much more expensive in the long run that maintaining a Support plan.

Just to make it sure for everyone that may be confused; for now, it looks like most sensible thing is keep renewing your support plan as there are no guarantees you can reinstate later. If your support plan lapses and you do not renew within your grace period, chances are, after a while you need to crossgrade to subscription model.

I'm a little confused. I owned PT 11 back in 2015 with Software Updates + Support Plan which expired on 2016 but it was a perpetual license. Now, I found a link on Avid which says "Already own Pro Tools? Renew your 1-Year Software Updates + Support Plan here."

I want to update my PT version 12.5 to the latest but I don't know how, I have to choose the option to pay $29.99 subscription or which one? I don't get it.

You need to find a reseller that can sell you a "reinstatement" of support plan. Renewal is for active plans only
