Default Not Responding - loading session

I've recently reinstalled Windows and have installed Pro Tools, as well. This is what's happening:

-I create a new session and do a ton of work, all in one sitting, and save it.
-Then, I close Pro Tools. When I open Pro Tools back up and try to open the same session again, it stops responding during random parts of the loading process. Sometimes while loading Window Configuration, and sometimes when it all finishes loading and is about to bring up the session. (But in that case, it remains whited over as it looks like when not responding)
-It works if I create a new session and import all the session data from the original session. (Every track)
-I am also able to load up my older work from before the reformat just fine.

I have all session files on a separate HDD and am using an Mbox 2, if that makes a difference.

Thanks.

Could be a few things. But lets start with this. Hold down SHIFT while you load your session to disable all Plug-ins. If it loads you know you are having a plug in problem. Try that first

Windows what and Pro Tools what? (xp? PT 8?)
Had a similar issue when trying to launch a session if I had a cd in the drive....
Do you have IE8 installed? Uninstall.....

IE8 problems usually prevent PT from even launching, not a session from loading.

Just restarted (have to restart after a Pro Tools crash) and tried that. It worked!

It'll be a pain to activate all the plug-ins after getting into the session every time, but it's better than importing session data every time. I have no idea what the plug-in problem could be, though.

The trick to figuring out which plugin is bad is not that tough. Just open the session while holding shift(to disable all as you tried before). Now with the session open, hold the Alt key and right-click on a plugin in the top slot and make active(this will make active, ALL the plugins in the first slot) Save and close. Now try and open the session. If it opens, all the plugins in slot 1 are okay. If it doesn't open, use SHIFT again and now you know its one of the plugins in the top slot(usually it will be a batch from the same company. For me it was a Waves bundle that needed an update). Anyway, process of elimination and you will be able to figure out which plugs.

I've had this happen once or twice when I really had a session on tilt. Are you maxing out in this session? If so, along the lines of what Albee said as a check do as a save. Disable a row or two of plugins to get the usage down a bit, then save. Then just re-enable those two rows when you pop back in.

Not maxing it at all, pretty small and early stage, actually.

I'm going to try that, now.
