Default Avid: Can we please have an option to "disable HDX engine"?

I recently "upgraded" my HD|Native system to an HDX card, and aside from it being a complete waste of money with so little AAX-DSP plugins available, the fact that I can't open sessions that worked absolutely fine on my HD|Native card is an ABSOLUTE JOKE.

128 voices at 96k doesn't go very far on a HDX system, that's for sure.

Avid.. please give us a way around the fact that a HDX rig is somehow more limited than a HD|Native when it comes to "Voices"?!

So far, HDX has been a total waste of a whole lot of money.

If you don't select HDX as your playback in MAC / PREFS / SOUND .
PTHD opens as just PT with CPTK capabilities . Which really is HDN
So you have what you want already .

How is HDX any less than native . It is native with DSP to .
Could you explain why using native plugs in HDX yields any less of a result.

I have a session that is at 75 80% native and 50% of a HDX card at 32/96 .
Somehow I don't see how HDN could do better with out the DSP.
I do agree on the plugin problem but at least you knew that going in , AS HDX PRE PAYERS WE DID NOT .

After reading a older thread of mine I came across this .

[QUOTE=ilovemyssl
That sounds a little odd.. I've mixed some big projects over the past few months with PT10HD and just a Native card with no problem... 100+ tracks with anywhere from 4 to 10 plugins per track plus tons of bus sends.
I just upgraded to HDX last week and the same sessions seem to be opening fine. What Sample Rate are you working at? [QUOTE]

Are you following the NATIVE / DSP rule. Or the native on aux track deductions.
Use VCAs when possible I have recently found out that VCAs can save on voice count. I do not use as many aux busses now unless I absolutely have to
