installed with a different mbox, does not work?

I have pro tools 8 LE with an Mbox2 at home installed on my regular computer.

I went to a friend with my laptop, and he installed pro tools 8 LE with his Mbox 2 pro, and we set it up so it worked on my laptop.

Now I got back home, and wanted to start up a session using my laptop (that was originally installed with my friends Mbox 2 pro) using my own Mbox2, but it does not seem to work.

Is every installation bound to be used with only one specific Mbox hardware?

Is there a way to make his installation on my laptop work with my regular Mbox2 unit?

Was it the same type of Mbox?

My friend has an Mbox 2 Pro, meanwhile my own is a regular Mbox2.

The software is not tied to any particular hardware, unless that version no longer supports it (original M-Box with PTLE 8.0.3+ for instance).
Your version of PTLE for both installs?

Maybe you need to define "doesn't work". Do you mean the software refuses to open? Or that sessions open but you don't hear anything? Have you tried resetting your IO?

I click on the pro tools icon in the dock, it starts to load, and then I get the message if I want to open a recent session, and I click yes, and then all I get is the colored ball, indicating the computer is "working", but nothing happens. Waited for 2 min before force quit.

I tried it once again, same thing again, i forced quit after 1 min.

A third time, pro tools even stopped loading half way through the plugins, and once again the colored ball showed up.

Irrelevant, really. I've never had PT crash trying to open a session at the wrong samplerate. It will simply tell you that your hardware cannot open that session because it can't read the samplerate.

Pretty easy to get around, too. Create a new session at 48 or 44.1, Import Session Data from the higher session. Done.

If it is failing at the plugins, do you have any 3rd party ones that could be causing problems?
