Kontakt Multicore settings
Hi
My protools 8.0.3cs1 is setup to 7 cores. I have Kontakt 4. there is a setting for multicore seeting as well. this goes for Titan Engine player and Omnishpere also. Is it benficial to set these to multicore or will this conflict with protools? thanks |

Re: Kontakt Multicore settings
If you're running Kontakt as an RTAS plugin, it should share the multi-processor settings in PT. So if you try and change it from 8 in Kontakt, you'll probably get some message saying 'do you want to enable multi-processor support', which I understand you dont' want to do if running as a plugin, that it already inherits the multi-processor capability of PT.
In stand alone mode not sure. But I would think anything running in RTAS mode doesn't matter, PT should be handling the CPU distribution. I could be wrong though, but that's my understanding. |

Re: Kontakt Multicore settings
Since Kontact 3.5, MP support should usually be on when in standalone AND plug-in mode.
There's good info on this in the Knowledge Base on the NI site. (Restrict the search to Kontakt and type in "processor" and you should find it.)

Re: Kontakt Multicore settings
My own real world experiences with RTAS & MS is it's a complete crapshoot. There might be some users that have done extensive repeatable tests that disagree, but I find MS settings almost arbitrary. When you talk to the tech people at NI, Spectrasonics, East West, etc. they speak almost anecdotally. "You might try this ... you might try that". I use the EastWest Quantum Pianos, using the Play engine .. it likes to have the MS be set to 1

Re: Kontakt Multicore settings
The same question burns for using these VI's via Bidule rewire...
is that more like standalone in terms of multi-processor handling or since the rewire plug is inserted in PT (32 of them in fact), maybe it should be handled the same as MP on/off in an RTAS plug...? wish I knew...
