Default Mix TDM on Intel 845?

Currently I'm running my Mix core on an old BX mobo with a PIII-500. I'd like to bring my system out of the stone age with a very quiet Intel845 running a P4-2ghz with 512mb of DDR ram. The compato docs suggest this is doable... Any negatives or "gotchas" I should watch out for? Thanks!

hi,
I work with 1 PT24 and 1 PT24Mix on ASUS P4PE (i845PE chipset), Pentium 2.8Ghz with DDR 512 (PC2100) and It work wery well. Each configuration have 2 HHD ATA IDE (one for the system, one for audio). 32 tracks avabled on PT24, 64 tracks on PT24Mix. No Problem detected on with Protools Version 5.3.1.( I have open up to 250 RTAS plugs on the same session just for fun!)

Hi,

My reading of the compatibility documents suggest that the Intel 845 is not supported.

Check the url here:

http://www.digidesign.com/compato/pt24perfwin.html

They recommend an Intel 850 or 860 chipset.

Having said that, I run a PT Mix w/5.3.1 for XP on a Gigabyte 8IEXP that uses the Intel 845E chipset with no problems.

ymmv

I have installed my Mbox on a PC that I built where I work that sounds just like what you are describing and it worked fine. I will say that I haven't used it much since I have a Mac for Pro Tools, but I think that you should be fine. It is an 845xxx with 512DDR.
I'd say go for it.
