Promise Ultra66/100 and MIX compatible?
All my fast IDE drives (including the one I am using for audio) are on a Promise Ultra66 controller. I know a lot of PT LE users use them. PT Free has no problem with this but I'm worried that MIX is going to fuss!
Anyone have a Promise controller (66 or 100) in their MIX box? Thanks. |

Re: Promise Ultra66/100 and MIX compatible?
I tried it, and had a lot of trouble - mind you, I was trying to use it as a RAID array - might be OK as fast IDE, I have a cheaper Fast IDE/RAID controller in it now, working as only a controller - it works OK. Often MIX can refuse to work with IDE beyond a certain number of tracks I think.

Re: Promise Ultra66/100 and MIX compatible?
Cool. I only want to use it as a controller, I don't have the raid version anyway
I'm only looking for 32 tracks so I'll be fine...any more and I'll have to get two or more high speed SCSI drives. For the moment though, the cost of this MIX system is going to clean me out for a bit. Thanks for the reply. |
