Default I just love the new pro tools here is why:

I've been running an HD2 system on a Mac Pro I built for this company last March.
Have been running non-stop with PTHD8, I have NEVER lost any data.
It just keeps going, I can count the crashes on one hand in the last 9 months!!!
I use 1 drive for the OS, 2 drives for audio, and the 4th drive pushes DVCProHD.
2 Video cards for 4 monitors.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with ADC, I print 16 stereo pairs of stems for delivery, while laying back to an HDSR machine. Might be samples off, but hey its television.
I work 12 to 14 hours a day. The new interface colors are easier on my eyes than 7.
Been using Digidesign since Sound Designer days.

This has been my best year financially. I crossgraded my personal system to PCIe on an 8 core 2.66 Mac Pro. This one test out better than the other.

Thanks Digi.

In 2006, I came into a facility with (1) HD-1, (4) Mix-3, and (2) LE systems. All running on G4's.

Through trade in's and a few new purchases, that's now (5) HD-3's, (2) Mix-3's, and (1) LE system. All running on MacPro's and G5's!! (except the old Mix-3's - they're still chugging on G4's)

This place is set for another 3-5 years, easily.

And sessions can boot into 7 and 8 in all rooms. That rocks. 5 proper rooms and an editing suite - booked seven days a week.

Thanks, Digi.

i love protools because it is every thing i have wished for since i started working with protools 10 years ago - , best audio editor is now complete with an amazing midi engine , every thing looks better for my eyes with protools 8 - , and last but not least is the reason for all that - it sounds better then any other DAW , IMHO - it sounds more natural - organic and multi dimensional then any other platform i have ever used - , for someone who started and was trained in a "classic" studio - with a 2" machine and an analog table - protools is really based on the same logical - idea, a mixing table and a recording machine , - no other [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep] - no need for 19.000 different screens and windows - just a simple 2 basic windows , that helps you eventually concentrate on the music you are doing and not on the tech side ,
simple , productive , intelligent and straight forward platform .

no [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep] - just music - this is way i love protools .

i see people here whining all day long about protools , and why can't it be more like other platforms , nothing is good enough for some people here...
only looking on what they are missing and not what they have under their hands - on the tip of their fingers....bitching about the ADC , the interfaces , the new colures of PT8 , the lack of expendability options , this and that......
i will say one thing - if you think you could do better else where - go a head - let us use this DUC for helping each-other and giving some helpful tips and tricks .
not answering people who are after a new HD system that they should buy an LE system.....where is the point? you think you really are helping anypne with that? think again .

you wanna bitch about protools - go over to the apple logic pro user forum and you will be welcomed...
i speak for myself when i say you are really not welcomed here.
i love protools

amen

I'm sincerely happy for those who find PT8 the cat's meow!

I want you to be happy.

I too would like to be happy

and I am generally a very happy soul

but as hard as I seek a way to dig PT8

it remains a thorn in my eye.

I long to feel as blessed in my DAW of choice's latest software as some of you happy cats to here in the happyboy thread.

See you at the opthamologist's office!

Never been more stable and reliable. Never been more fun.
I forget about the software and only think about making music.

That doesn't mean I'm not interested in new stuff from Digi!
Bring it on

Pro Tools 8 rocks. Hope they keep it kicking a** going forward. The feature set is really coming together now. Personally, I love the new colors and find it easier to identify things while navigating the program.

Jimi, I had a similar problem of yours at the first days. I changed size and placement of monitors, direction of lights and now it is fine.
