Default sending files on the net

happy new year everybody!
i just joined and this is my first (of many i'm sure) post. i have Mbox LE/ G4 1.25mhz. my friend in vegas runs protools mbox LE/ PPC 733mhz. we would like to send files back and forth but were not sure how. weve done it so far (the last 2 days) by soloing two tracks at a time, panning them hard L & R, bouncing them to disk, then converting them into MP3 files at 96hz (augggh!) please tell me there is a better way to do this.
thanks
