troubles at 48kHz in PT 12.6.1 with Focusrite Scarlett
I used to own PT 8 on Windows 7, using the Fast Track Pro. I used to have sessions in both 44.1 and 48kHz. I upgraded to PT 12.6.1 on Win 10 and got a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 2nd generation audio interface. The Focusrite Scarlett software has a control panel for switching between 44.1, 48, ... up to 192kHz.
I can successfully open 44.1 and 96kHz sessions by switching to the appropriate frequency, but everytime I want to go to 48kHz, it won't play. I can open the session but it won't play. It will return an error, "Pro Tools could not initialize the Focusrite USB ASIO. Please make sure that the device has been configured correctly." I have to save and then after saving the session it freezes. I have to "x" out of the program. The interface will work at all frequencies on other DAWs. And, I already made a ticket with Focusrite and they feel like it's not on their end. Any ideas why it won't work?

Re: troubles at 48kHz in PT 12.6.1 with Focusrite Scarlett
Are you allowing Windows to use the Scarlett as its default playback device?(Control Panel>Sound Properties). Changing that so Windows uses the on-board sound card might be the solution

Re: troubles at 48kHz in PT 12.6.1 with Focusrite Scarlett
I sometimes have to go into Control Panel, Sound and set the sample rate there too, especially if I connect my 18i20 to a different USB port - it detects it as another 18i20 not as previously connected (if that makes sense). I usually disable it in Control Panel, Sound after setting the sample rate. I also always use the same sample rate so I don't have to muck around with it often.

Re: troubles at 48kHz in PT 12.6.1 with Focusrite Scarlett
Unfortunately I've tried all these things and it still won't allow me to transition to 48kHZ.
In ctrl panel> sound I've disabled all other sound cards, and also chose 48,000Hz Studio Quality in the playback and record tabs on the advanced tab. Inside a 48kHz session of PT, under set up, it says Focusrite ASIO device and when I launch control panel for it inside PT, it says 48kHz, 256 so I don't know why it has to be so hard. I know everytime it plans on freezing up because when you open a session on 44.1, no clicks or pop upon opening the session. But when you hear a few clicks opening a 48kHz, you know it will freeze.

Ahh, that's you're problem. In Control Panel, Sounds, you want to disable the Focusrite, but keep your built in audio as default for all Windows sounds.
