Default Pro Tools 10.3.7 Hard Freeze Computer Randomly

I have a problem with my Pro Tools 10.3.7 software. When I am running the program it sometimes, and sometimes quite often, hard crash my entire computer, and it seems to happen randomly. The whole computer freezes and the only way to go about it is to do a hard shut-down, and hopefully I saved recently enough in my Pro Tools session.

does any one know a solution

Kind Regards

John

What interface are you using? If anything is on the FW bus, note that this:
FireWire/1394 Controller 2 : ASUS VIA VT6308 1394 OHCI Controller
VIA firewire controllers are historically bad for recording in general, and worse with Pro Tools. Consider making this disabled under Device Manager

Beyond that, there are several system tweaks that need to be done and your help files or Getting Started Guide should explain them well enough to guide you thru getting settings correct.

Still deeper; I don't know if the motherboard's chipset is a compatible one(Mainboard : ASUS P7P55D-E). Socket 1155 and 1156 are not as universally compatible as are socket 1366(x58 chipset0 and 2011(x79 chipset). Hopefully someone else may use this same motherboard and will have more insight

I don't know what the error message means, but it prompts me to ask for details on ALL hardware connected. Without further info, I would uninstall Pro Tools(and choose the option to also remove the HD driver, and preferences, database files, etc) After a reboot, I would install 10.3.8, as well as re-installing drivers for whatever hardware you run(interface and/or controllers).

This is also a good time to remind you of the value of a backup plan, in the form of drive imaging and/or cloning. If you get the rig to a point where it is working consistently well, save a drive image of the system drive. That way, down the road if something goes sour, maybe some new software makes the whole thing unstable or some update ruins your day, you can restore your system drive to an earlier time, without having to uninstall or re-install some or all of your software Another twist on this is to clone your system drive and keep the cloned drive stashed for emergency. If your rig goes wonky(that's a technical term... right?), swap in the cloned drive and go back to work

I'd still like to hear from someone else with this same motherboard and whether it works well or not
