Pro Tools 10.3.7 Hard Freeze Computer Randomly
I have a problem with my Pro Tools 10.3.7 software. When I am running the program it sometimes, and sometimes quite often, hard crash my entire computer, and it seems to happen randomly. The whole computer freezes and the only way to go about it is to do a hard shut-down, and hopefully I saved recently enough in my Pro Tools session.
does any one know a solution Kind Regards John SiSoftware Sandra ID Host Name : music-pc Workgroup : WORKGROUP Computer Model : OEM System Product Name Serial Number : System Ser********** Chassis : Desktop Mainboard : ASUS P7P55D-E Serial Number : 1087337******** BIOS : AMI (OEM) 1404 10/29/2010 Total Memory : 8GB DIMM DDR3 Processors Processor : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 870 @ 2.93GHz (4C 8T 3.08GHz/3.62GHz, 2.41GHz IMC, 4x 256kB L2, 8MB L3) Socket/Slot : FC LGA1156 Chipset Memory Controller : ASUS Core (Clarksfield/Lynnfield) DMI 2x 2.41GHz (4.82GHz) Memory Controller : Intel Core Desktop (Lynnfield) UnCore 2x 2.41GHz (4.82GHz), 2x 4GB DIMM DDR3 1.34GHz 128-bit Memory Module(s) Memory Module : Kingston 9905471-011A00LF 4GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-10700U DDR3-1334 (9-9-9-25 4-34-10-5) Memory Module : Kingston 9905471-011A00LF 4GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-10700U DDR3-1334 (9-9-9-25 4-34-10-5) Video System Monitor/Panel : Iiyama PL2409HD (1920x1080, 29.8") Video Adapter : NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 (192SP SM5.0 1.57GHz, 1GB 3.61GHz, PCIe 2.00 x16) Graphics Processor OpenCL GP Processor : nVidia GeForce GTS 450 (192SP 4C 1.57GHz, 1GB) Compute Shader Processor : NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 (192SP 1.57GHz, 1GB 3.61GHz) Storage Devices Seagate ST31000526SV (1TB, SATA300/600, 3.5", 7200rpm) : 932GB (C:) (E:) Seagate ST31000526SV (1TB, SATA600, 3.5", 7200rpm) : 932GB (F:) (G:) Seagate ST2000DM001-1E6164 (2TB, USB2/SATA300/600, 3.5", 7200rpm) : 2TB (H:) TSSTcorp DVD+/-RW TS-H653B (SATA150, DVD+-RW, CD-RW, 2MB Cache) : N/A (D:) Logical Storage Devices System Reserved : 100MB (NTFS) komplete (F:) : 199GB (NTFS) @ Seagate ST31000526SV (1TB, SATA600, 3.5", 7200rpm) Seagate (H:) : 2TB (NTFS) @ Seagate ST2000DM001-1E6164 (2TB, USB2/SATA300/600, 3.5", 7200rpm) System (C:) : 345GB (NTFS) @ Seagate ST31000526SV (1TB, SATA300/600, 3.5", 7200rpm) Data (E:) : 586GB (NTFS) @ Seagate ST31000526SV (1TB, SATA300/600, 3.5", 7200rpm) Audio (G:) : 732GB (NTFS) @ Seagate ST31000526SV (1TB, SATA600, 3.5", 7200rpm) Optical Drive (D:) : N/A @ TSSTcorp DVD+/-RW TS-H653B (SATA150, DVD+-RW, CD-RW, 2MB Cache) Peripherals LPC Hub Controller 1 : ASUS P55 LPC Interface Controller Audio Device : ASUS P55/PM55/3400 High Definition Audio Audio Device : ASUS GF116 High Definition Audio Controller Audio Codec : nVidia 0015 Audio Codec : nVidia 0015 Audio Codec : nVidia 0015 Serial Port(s) : 1 Disk Controller : ASUS P55/PM55/3400 4 port SATA IDE Controller Disk Controller : ASUS P55/PM55/3400 2 port SATA IDE Controller Disk Controller : ASUS JMB36X PCIE-to-SATAII/IDE RAID Controller Disk Controller : ASUS 88SE91A0 SATA-600 Controller USB Controller 1 : ASUS P55/PM55/3400 USB2 Enhanced Host Controller USB Controller 2 : ASUS P55/PM55/3400 USB2 Enhanced Host Controller USB Controller 3 : ASUS Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller FireWire/1394 Controller 1 : 22785 FW643 PCI Express1394b Controller (PHY/Link) FireWire/1394 Controller 2 : ASUS VIA VT6308 1394 OHCI Controller SMBus/i2c Controller 1 : Intel ICH SMBus Printers and Faxes Printer : Microsoft XPS Document Writer (600x600, Colour) Fax : Microsoft Shared Fax Driver (200x200) Network Services Network Adapter : D-Link DGE-528T Gigabit Ethernet Adapter (Ethernet, 100Mbps) Operating System Windows System : Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 6.01.7601 (Service Pack 1) Platform Compliance : x64 Windows Experience Index Current System : 5.9 |

Re: Pro Tools 10.3.7 Hard Freeze Computer Randomly
What interface are you using? If anything is on the FW bus, note that this:
FireWire/1394 Controller 2 : ASUS VIA VT6308 1394 OHCI Controller VIA firewire controllers are historically bad for recording in general, and worse with Pro Tools. Consider making this disabled under Device Manager Beyond that, there are several system tweaks that need to be done and your help files or Getting Started Guide should explain them well enough to guide you thru getting settings correct. Still deeper; I don't know if the motherboard's chipset is a compatible one(Mainboard : ASUS P7P55D-E). Socket 1155 and 1156 are not as universally compatible as are socket 1366(x58 chipset0 and 2011(x79 chipset). Hopefully someone else may use this same motherboard and will have more insight

Re: Pro Tools 10.3.7 Hard Freeze Computer Randomly
I don't know what the error message means, but it prompts me to ask for details on ALL hardware connected. Without further info, I would uninstall Pro Tools(and choose the option to also remove the HD driver, and preferences, database files, etc) After a reboot, I would install 10.3.8, as well as re-installing drivers for whatever hardware you run(interface and/or controllers).
This is also a good time to remind you of the value of a backup plan, in the form of drive imaging and/or cloning. If you get the rig to a point where it is working consistently well, save a drive image of the system drive. That way, down the road if something goes sour, maybe some new software makes the whole thing unstable or some update ruins your day, you can restore your system drive to an earlier time, without having to uninstall or re-install some or all of your software Another twist on this is to clone your system drive and keep the cloned drive stashed for emergency. If your rig goes wonky(that's a technical term... right?), swap in the cloned drive and go back to work I'd still like to hear from someone else with this same motherboard and whether it works well or not
