Default Adaptec ATA-2940UW

Hello,

I am recent convert from a PC based system to a new Dual G4 533 with 256 RAM, etc. Anyway, I have the Adaptec ATA-2940UW SCSI adapter card that I would like to use in order to install my Ultra Wide SCSI drives. I have been looking around to see if this would be ok to put in the Mac...but I cannot seem to get a definitive answer. Has anyone has any experience with this or any suggestions?

Thanks for your time,
Michael

Hi Michael,

I've been using a adaptec 2940UW for two years now on a apple 9600-300... Works fine !
Don't know about this ATA spelled before it... Just try it, i think (!) if it's a PCI-card it will run. Look in the compatibility-menu above then you'll know for shure. It's up there in this very same page you are staring at

I'm running OS9.1 466sp (latest model) with Paris and PT 4.3.1 and the 2940UW with no problems. In fact the only thing thats crashed since I installed everything is the startup disk control panel an I'm sure that's due to a jumper setting on one of my old SCSI externals.

A while back I was looking at buying a used 2940 UW, and found out that Adaptec did make two models-the one that works in a Mac is called Power Domain. I don't think that the PC version will work in a Mac. I bought an Orange Micro card for cheap, and it works fine.
