Default hangs/crashes

I have a dual 867, 768 mb of ram, & three internal ata drives (60x80x80), using an Mbox & PTle on OS 9.2. I'm cutting dialogue for a t.v. show, running video, audio & applications each on separate drives.

I haven't been able to work due to crashes that occur minutes into the edit. Sometimes when I attempt to name a section or just idling. It's been fine until now. Does anyone have a solution?

Oh god, I have had the same exact problem and it's very frustrating. I did everything to no avail. Initialized my HD and reinstalled everything and it still happened. Then I figured out a couple of things and it worked.
First I updated the drivers on my hard drive using apple drive utility. It doesn't initialize the HD just updates the drivers.
Then I took out of my extensions folder (in the system folder) the Quicktime VR extension and put it in my extensions disabled folder.
Then I went into my Norton Utilities and defragmented every hard drive that I have.
I don't know why but it worked fine after that.
It's worth a try.

Thanks Kim. I ended up getting it to work by tossing my preferances, digidatabase forders ( automatically created on each drive ) & increasing the pro tools application's memory requirements to over 100mb. So far so good...

Hi Again- That advice I gave you worked for a month after horrendous crashes all the time and after doing nothing different it started again. I switched hard drives and it helped a bit but it crashes every now and then. I slimmed down my Extensions and hold my breath everytime I record. So far it mostly works. I wish the company would clear this up with an update.
