Default 8.0.1 -> 8.0.3 = Hangs and Crashes

After updating to 8.0.3, I have been getting a Russian Roulette of issues. Sometimes when launching PT right after booting, it will just hang and needs a force quit. I'm mixing a session, save and close it, reopen it and it will crash while building region lists. I try the same session right after and it will open. Sometimes on the loading screen it will even hang the whole computer and I'll have to do a hard reboot.

When PT is running and I'm able to work it works fine. It's only when I'm launching or opening a session where I get issues. I thought it might have been my Canopus 110 because of a previous thread I read here, so I unplugged it before launching PT and it still hung. Relaunched and it opened.

I updated to 8.0.3cs1 just to see if it changed anything and it didn't.

Here's my setup:

MacPro 2x2.8Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
10.5.8
4GB DDR2 800Mhz RAM
PT HD3
1x96 I/O
1x888 I/O
Sync HD
Command 8
Cedar DNS 3000
Canopus ADVC 110
Western Digital External 1TB HD

It is the Canopus box that is the root of the crashes, it is a known bug. Search for this thread, "ProTools 8.0.3 Big Bug". Workarounds are discussed there. In a nutshell workaround #1, disable Canopus box before loading session. Workaround #2 rename Picture Folder where pix files reside before loading session, relink to picture files after session loads.

Digi has responded and is aware of bug and is working on a fix
