Default Why are the colours all pastels?

Hello!

when I select a clip and choose a nice deep red colour for it (or any colour for that matter) it always comes out a really mellow pastel shade, baring very little resemblance to the colour I picked in the Color Palette.

What's going on?!! Please help!

I'm using PT12.4.

Thanks!

Matt

I only seem able to change the saturation of tracks. Not of clips.

Apologies if I am missing something stupid! I've really tried!!

Select clips in the upper left corner of the palette

Brightness and Saturation in the Color Palette Window don't apply to Clips, only the color choice itself

I'm afraid none of these have answered / addressed my question:

When I choose a primary red (or a deep blue or any colour) from the colour palette, it comes out a pastel version. Why?

The saturation slider would seem like the answer but that slider is unmovable unless I toggle on the Apply To Channel Strip button to the left of it. But obviously this is of no help when it comes to the colour of CLIPS.

Someone must know the answer?

Is it a 12.4 bug maybe??

Thanks for your time

It's not a bug, that's how it works. The color of the clip can't be as dark as the waveform in the clip or it would not be visible. Are you not seeing results similar to this?

Hey! I have the same question as the OP. The saturation and brightness affect the color of the tracks, but the actual clips in my sessions look very washed out and pastel like. I seem to remember there was a trick to this back in the day where you held some combination of keys to have it affect the saturation of the CLIPS in the timeline instead. It would make perfect sense if selecting clips in the color palette did this, but it does not. Is it perhaps a bug?
